What are plugs? Plugs are plants grown in 72-cell trays; each soil plug is 1.6” wide x 3.2” deep. They are a great option for planting large gardens. We plant all of our own projects with plugs.

Harebell is tiny little flower but is stunning when planted in masses, providing blooms all summer long. Harebell can be used on gardens borders or as a filler plant throughout a garden—filling in gaps between the taller flowers and grasses. It grows well on even poor, dry soils.

Design Tips

Harebell is very short and looks great when planted in a mass on a slope. It spreads by seed but won’t smother other flowers and grasses. The very long flowering period adds a dashes of blue throughout the summer up until frost. Harebell (Campanula rotundifolia) looks great with other low-growing yellow, pink, and orange flowers.

Great native plant choice for the Minnesota Lawns to Legumes grant program!
