Ground Plum is a unique prairie flower with pinkish purple and white flowers in the spring. It grows in a very short clump and sprawls across the ground. After blooming, bunches of 1″ edible plums appear, adding interest long after the flowers have gone. Ground Plum is a legume and adds nitrogen to the soil.

Design Tips
Ground Plum grows outward instead of upward from a center point, so make sure it doesn’t get shaded out by taller plants nearby. Plant Ground Plum (Astragalus crassicarpus) among other short, dry prairie plants such as Blue Grama Grass and Prairie Smoke.
