The fluorescent blue flowers of Prairie Spiderwort bloom early and often. It spreads by underground roots (rhizomes) to form small colonies on dry to medium soils. Prairie Spiderwort is a nice addition to garden borders.

Design Tips

Prairie Spiderwort can be planted in small groups that can grow into colonies. The short flowers can only be seen if it’s planted with other short flowers and grasses. Prairie Spiderwort (Tradescantia bracteata) sometimes goes dormant in the summer and re-grows in the fall.
